Week 5: I am a genius of unspeakable evil
My book this week is I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to be Your Class President. The author Josh Lieb is a writer on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, perfect credentials for a book meant to make you giggle.
It’s a quick read, something to pick up and speedily get through on a nice afternoon, and it’s quite the change from my recent nonfiction reading list. The book is not particularly profound, but it sure is entertaining.
The main character Oliver Watson is an elementary school-aged boy. Unlike most kids, however, his delusions of grandeur aren’t fake. He is a genius. In fact, he’s the third richest person in the world, and he’s not even a teenager. Anything he wants can be his. Drink chocolate milk from school fountains? Done.
In an attempt to outdo his father, whose shining life accomplishment was winning the title of student council president when he was younger, Oliver decides to run. He sets aside his global financial ventures and concentrates all his resources on winning that coveted title.
